This season, I want to begin by celebrating every student who completed our October Core Training at SBK Academy. Watching you grow, engage, and build your understanding of Florida’s Assisted Living regulations reminded me of when I first began—eager to learn, determined to lead, and driven by heart.
Now, as you prepare for the Administrator Competency Test under F.A.C. 59A-36.011, remember leadership isn’t just about passing a test. It’s about embodying the principles that protect residents, support your team, and ensure every decision you make reflects quality care.
You’ve already taken the first step toward excellence. Keep learning. Keep showing up. Keep leading with purpose.
💬 Keep Growing. Keep Leading.
Why Ongoing Education Is the Heart of Quality Care
In this industry, we wear many hats — administrator, owner, mentor, and caregiver. But what truly sustains an Assisted Living Facility is knowledge guided by compassion.
After 18 years as both an owner and administrator, I’ve seen how quickly things can change — new regulations, new expectations, new levels of accountability. That’s why I always remind my trainees and consulting clients:
“You can’t lead from experience alone — you have to lead from understanding.”
📘 Florida’s Framework for Quality Leadership
Florida’s Assisted Living system is built on structure, integrity, and service. Our administrators are shaped by the standards set forth in law and rule — and strengthened by the commitment to uphold them.
Florida Statute 429.52 requires all ALF administrators to complete 26 hours of Core Training from an AHCA Registered trainer and demonstrate competency through testing.
Florida Administrative Code 59A-36.011 defines those administrator competency requirements, ensuring that every leader is equipped to manage resident care, records, safety, and compliance with confidence.
When you understand the law and the rule, you don’t just meet standards — you elevate them.
🌱 Why Learning Never Stops
Even for seasoned providers, ongoing education is essential. Each rule you revisit and each conversation you engage in adds a new layer of confidence and clarity to how you serve.
Investing in your education doesn’t just maintain compliance—it builds credibility.
It shows your team, your residents, and your community that you are committed to leading with excellence.
Whether you’re preparing for the ALF Administrator Competency Test or ready to strengthen your operations, my mission is to help you do both with heart and strategy.
