When It Doesn’t Work — But You Still Do

There are seasons in my journey when things just don’t go as planned. The numbers don’t add up. Referrals slow down. The phone stays quiet. It can feel like every part of the system is working against me.

And yet… I still show up.

I still advocate.

I still teach.

I still believe that even if one part of the work isn’t flowing, another part will because my purpose never stopped moving.

This October, as I taught my latest ALF Core Training session, I felt that truth in full. Eighteen years ago, I was the one sitting in class hungry for information, eager to learn, and unsure where it would lead.

Now, I stand before passionate, motivated professionals stepping into the same calling that once called me.

Every time I teach, I’m reminded that purpose doesn’t pause just because one area isn’t working. When the facility side slows down, I pour into teaching and Coaching. When the industry feels heavy, I pour into people. Because I was called to make a difference not just in one area, but in the heart of the entire field.

There’s something sacred about watching others find their confidence, earn their certification, and walk out ready to serve with integrity.

That’s legacy work. That’s what keeps me going.

So, if one part of your journey feels stuck don’t stop.

Shift your focus, not your faith.

Keep leading. Keep teaching. Keep building.

Because the ones who are called to change this industry don’t wait for it to make sense, they create the change themselves.
